Richard Ardizzone’s children’s fantasy “Hawkfasts” is inspired by
English history and folklore, especially the Robin Hood tales, but it’s
not a zillion miles away from the new Disney Pixar film BRAVE, which is
steeped in Scottish myth and legend. I’m tempted to say that Hawfasts’
lead character, Ethanna Culpepper, is England’s answer to Princess
Merida (the girl from Brave.) Having read and loved Hawkfasts, I just
can’t wait to see the Brave movie!
